Guest Book Update - 01/25/2010
Someone hacked into my guest book over the weekend and as a result  some of my messages were deleted and gross messages left in their place.   I love reading the wonderful messages left by the wonderful people who visit.  I apologize..but for a few weeks I am going to have to approve the messages that are left.  Thanks for understanding and I hope everyone who visits enjoys the site and finds something interesting and/or informative

We got a pound puppy in October, and we are relatively sure he is a BRT, he has all the qualities, but no cropped tail (tail is BEAUTIFUL, like a golden retriever)!  We named him Kuma, which is Japanese for bear, and he is quite the family pet.  He is all personality, and is a great pillow/rugs for the kids to lounge on while watching movies.  We love him, BRT or not, but would love to bring him by some day for you to tell us what you think!

Jeanne, I'm so sorry to hear about the vandalism.  I really enjoy looking at the guest book comments and remembering the first time I left you a message years ago.  That first step that led to having Mora, which has been a wonderful adventure for the last 10 months and is only getting better.

I understand completely where you are coming from.  The same thing happened to my twitter acct. a while ago.  I ended up closing my acct.  Some people are just so mean spirited and full of hate.  Sorry it had to happen to such a wonderfull site such as yours.

Hi! I have been studying various breeds before getting another dog since my Samoyed died of "old age". The BRT is one of the breeds on my major interest list.  I have found that several BRT breeders take their responsibility very seriously, which I admire.  I will not get another dog until I am certain that I am ready in all respects. Thank you for your interesting site and information. John

I love your dogs.   I have fallen in LOVE with the BRT since i first saw them on TV during a dog show.  The more I read about them and see the more I want one.

i'm enjoying your website.  i'm learning a lot about this breed and am anxious to see one in person!  i currently have a weimaraner and a soft coated wheaten terrier.  the brt looks like an enlarged wheaten, but obviously all black.  i'll be on your site frequently - working on my husband to get one! =)

I would like to talk with you about the BRT to see if they are a breed for me. If so, I would be glad to have a BRT in my family!

If you either buy a BRT male here in North America or import one from Svetlana in Russia, you will have to get a female for that male.  A male BRT does best with a female BRT.  Before you consider buying one of these big black babies, seriously consider buying a female pup from a different line and/or breeder at the same time you purchase the male pup.  These dogs require a lot of TLC, one-on-one attention, comprehensive training, and lots of consistency.  Any type of stress or degree of stress (even a change in environment) will cause these dogs to stop eating.  The BRT's diet is not like any other breed of dog in that it requires a top, organic, all natural commercial dog food in addition to natural meats, raw vegetables, raw fruit, and other goodies.  Your kitchen will soon become a BRT kitchen.  But the BRT dog is so very affectionate, devoted, and loyal.  The BRT requires constant socialization towards strangers.  One can never over socialize a BRT dog.  So the more he or she gets out to meet the world, the better.  In fact, the BRT is excellent with strangers, if properly socialized.  If he or she is not, y ou didn't do your job.  Good luck & Best Wishes!

As a former owner/breeder of Great Danes, owner of Anatolian Shepherds, Australian Shepherds, German Shepherds, I have recently become interested in the BRT breed. I do not wish to get a dog as dominant as the Anatolian male we had, but I wish to find a family pet which loving, protective intelligent, sound temperment, sound physically, durable, large (average for this breed is fine), a good runner (I like to run in the national forest next to our 3 acre, fenced home), good for our climate (5,500 ft above sea level in Arizona, wide range of weather conditions), but still controlable and "reasonable".  Showing is a possibility, but not unless the BLT is really a "winner." Breeding a female (likely purchasing a female is preferred over a male) with a top dog is a goal. In no rush, not  yet sure about the BRT due  to  wish to avoid an unreasonably dominant pet after the Anatolian male (my wife is concerned about this especially).  Need to learn more about the breed, but our "Alpha" is getting old, so we look to replace her with a versatile pet who can also serve as an intelligent watch dog and protector.

What a joy to see!  After seeing one this morning on a Dog show, I came to your site--these must bring so much joy to your lives.  We have a miniature Schnauzer who we dearly love, and if we had the large space a BRT would require, I'd love to have one.  Thanks for sharing your amazing dogs with us.

Good afternoon, and happy Fourth of July, 2008!

My 15-month-old Giant Schnauzer, Junior, currently attends RiverDog Canine Coaching here in Sammamish, Washington. His favorite buddy at class is a BRT named Raz(putin), or "Razzy" for short. Since the two of them seem to have so much fun together, my fiance and I are considering whether to add a BRT to our "fur-mily".

I love the casual, tousled look of the BRT's, Giants, and also the Bouvier des Flandres, but it seems as though perhaps the BRT would prove to be a better "match" for our little boy, since he is a very active, rough-and-tumble young fur-man and would need someone sturdy to cuddle and play with.

Please advise whether you currently have any puppies available, and pricing for same.

Best regards,

Candi Taggart

Hi there, I am new to this breed, but not new to dogs or larger dogs. I was watching a dog show the other night and I looked up and saw this magnificent dog, which was similar in look to a Giant Schnauzer, but was definitely different. I quickly turned up the volume and heard it was a Black Russian Terrier. I've not been around the show ring for a few years, so I hadn't seen or heard about these dogs. I immediately started doing a bit of research, because I had been contemplating getting a giant schnauzer in the next couple of years. Now, I know I am going to do more research and hopefully find someone in Texas that will let me come and see a grown dog. Thanks for having such a wonderful website!

I fell in love with this breed after seeing them. I am located in Connecticut and really want to have one as a member of my family. I have two children, 8 and 5 year girls. At the moment we have no pets. This would be our first dog. My wife insist on me getting a dog that has no doggie smell. A coworker of mine had one and said they had no smell and did not shed. Please inform if that is correct. Thank you.

have met two of these amazing animals and I am in love. We have had 5 rotties over the years and are animal lovers and are involved in animal rescue.. we live in the mojave desert on the mojave river with a large swimming pool. We love to swim with our dogs.Currently we have an aged rottie female and we just adopted a funny looking mixed breed female that was abandoned.
